April Wrap-Up

This is my wrap up post of April. On the week after Semana Santa (the 2ⁿᵈ to the 8ᵗʰ), on Friday, we celebrated the 35ᵗʰ anniversary of my school. The day before all the classes decorated their wings with balloons and streamers. On Friday, we didn't have classes. Instead, we ate pizza, had cake, and spent the morning playing and socializing. At 9, we all made our way to the gymnasium. It was packed with all the students of the school and parents. Until 11, we had our celebration act where the school director and pastors gave speeches; we sang the national anthem; and students performed skits, dances, and songs. Afterwards, we spent the last hour enjoying our free time and went home early at 12.

Friday through Sunday on the 14ᵗʰ-16ᵗʰ and the 21ˢᵗ-23ʳᵈ was Intercolegio: a sports tournament where various schools compete in volleyball, basketball, soccer, futsal, and handball. It was held at Colegio San Ignacio de Loloya; which had a huge campus with a large grass soccer field, 3 volleyball courts, and 3 other courts for futsal, handball, or basketball. Each day they had a cantina, food trucks and stands, face painting, and sponsored stands with activities. Gutenberg, my school, played volleyball and futsal on Saturday and Sunday of both weeks. On the 15ᵗʰ we played 2 games of mens' futsal and won both; the 16ᵗʰ we played 2 games of mens' volleyball and won both; on the 22ⁿᵈ we lost a game of mens' volleyball and won a game of mens' futsal; and on the 23ʳᵈ we lost a game of mens' futsal. Even though we didn't reach semifinals in either sport, we put up a fight and even won the award for best fans for our cheering and band!

School has been going on the same as usual, copying notes in most classes, fully participating in others, and being present in others. I'm getting along with my teachers and other students. For the past few weeks my classmates have been giving English presentations and it has been so fun hearing them speak. They're learning well and have the cutest accents! In art & communications we've started a project on cubism and are painting. My classmates have been taking many tests the past few days, but the only one I'll be taking as well is a biology test we have in 2 weeks.
