3/19/23 Update

It's now been about 6 weeks since I moved in with my new family, and so far, everything has been going great. My host parents are so caring and loving, that I truly feel like part of their family. My host brother Matias is quite introverted and doesn't talk much, but he's still kind and always invites me to spend time with him and his friends. My host sister Elena has been welcoming and asks a lot of questions about English and the US. We watch movies and play card games together (I taught her Kings in the Corners), and in general get along well.    They have a lovely one story house with a spacious patio in the back. My parents have their room, my brother has his own, and I share my room with my sister.

I have had 2 weeks of school with our regular schedule. On Mondays we have math, physics, and PE; Tuesdays we have devotional, history/geography, chemistry, Castellano, economics, and electives; Wednesdays we have physics, orientation, and Castellano; Thursdays we have electives, math, chemistry, English, physics, and biology; and on Fridays we have math, English, Guaraní, chemistry, computing, biology, and Castellano.

Classes are going about the same way as last year; I take down notes even if I don't fully understand everything. However, I am participating a bit more with projects, tests, and homework. I got 50% on a Castellano test, passed a math test (even though I didn't respond to all the questions), and took an economics pretest.

Since we have a biology class and lab now, I can participate in that class a lot. Last week, we did a lab that was so much fun, and I am working on biology homework right now. I also have an arts/communication project and a Castellano project to work on. Since we are in our senior year, we have electives where everyone in the grade chooses a special class such as modeling, Portuguese, advanced math, business, and metal work. I am taking arts & communication!

I'll put out another post this month; a compilation of small updates and events. Thanks for reading, I miss you all back in the States, and until next time!

Anneleen and I found a nice Korean/Japanese store and had sushi. We also bought some bread and cookies. The ladies running the store were very nice and gave us some free muffins for speaking Korean.
