Summer Break and Christmas
I am melting and it's only going to get worse in January. At least I have air conditioning in my bedroom. I am on summer break and it hasn't been incredibly eventful yet, but I have been able to spend lots of time with my family and with friends from AFS and from school. I've gone bowling, eating, and shopping with friends on a few occasions. I was even able to go to the graduation ceremony of the 3rd year class from my school.
I guess a noteworthy event is that I bleached and dyed part of my hair for the first time. I love how it turned out and I feel like I've regained some of my lost confidence (emphasis on some, my anxiety is still far from cured). New year, new me I guess.
Some other little things that I'm remembering as I write this are that after the graduation I had asado with friends for the first time, a friend and I found a boba shop so I'm really excited about that, and the other day I had some other exchange students over and we wanted to order food, and the guy who took our order was so patient and supportive. We were passing the phone to each other, trying to figure out how to pronounce things, and the whole time he was just like good job, it's okay, you're doing great. We also celebrated my host mom's birthday at a nice restaurant, so that was a fun event.
Christmas was fun and calm. I bought gifts for my host family and my natural family. My host mom and I sent our packages to the US (she has a son living in Kansas), and we are waiting for them to be delivered. I am also waiting for my natural family's package to me to arrive; I hope it comes soon.
My family doesn't really celebrate on Christmas day, so we celebrated on Christmas Eve. My mom cooked all afternoon and we invited some family over to eat. We all wore red and at midnight, we all hugged and opened our presents. I got a wonderful set of 100 colored pencils from my sister, and I can't wait to use them. On Christmas day, we invited some other family over for lunch and to use the pool, and we spent the rest of the day resting.
Merry Christmas everyone!!
P.S. Congrats Kevin and Shannon, and Michael and Alexa!!
So nice to see a new post. I'm glad you found a boba shop. We're still sad that the one near us closed last month. Love the new look, and would love to see more pictures! Your brother really likes the melting cat art. Hope the package arrives soon and hope you have a fun new years eve celebration! Te amo!
