May Post, Part 2

On Tuesday, May 16th, our biology lab had a dissection! We began learning about the circulatory system and dissected cow hearts. It was really cool to see the individual arteries, cavities, veins, valves, and chordae. (I'll put the photos at the end in case some of you'd prefer not to see them).

The rest of the month hasn't had any large events, but I've been going out and spending time with friends and family.

School is going well as per usual, and I've been busy with assignments and tests. More posts to come as I prepare for my return. 7 weeks left!!

I want to share some sad news that recently happened. Sadly, my host dad, Francisco Ortiz Rivarola, has passed away. He was having heart problems and didn't survive his surgery. I truly wish I could have known him longer and had more time with him. I will forever be grateful for the kindness and love he showed me by welcoming me into his family and taking me in as his daughter.

The wake was held on Friday the 16th and Saturday the 20th. The funeral took place on the 20th. I spent the whole time with my family and friends who had come to support us. I am very thankful for everyone who reached out to support and help my family during this troubling time.

Went to a restaurant with authentic European food
I had ravioli with a salad, and my friend had steak tartare: a Belgian dish of raw ground beef

My classmate's birthday

As a reward for completing the semester, we had ice cream and brownies in biology lab!
