I Got My Placement!!!
Today, I finally got my placement (as in my host family). It's a family of 4 living in Lambaré, Paraguay, which is just south of Asunción. My family is made up of my host mother, host father, older host sister, older host brother (who doesn't live at home), and 3 dogs.
They live in a suburban area 10 kilometers from Asunción and 5 kilometers from the school I'll be attending. The school is Colegio Politécnico Johannes Gutenberg (sounds fancy).
I have already sent an email to them and I hope to hear back soon. To be honest, I was starting to get really worried that I wouldn't have a family before my arrival. I know that it's common for people to be placed a week or 2 before their arrival, but it was nerve wracking to say the least. I'm just thankful that I got a placement and that they seem like a nice family.
I can't wait to see them in person in 2 weeks!!!
So exciting!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is excellent news! Looks like you got a great host family.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice match. It’ll be interesting living with dogs.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! We got to go to Asuncion when we visited Michael while he was living Paraguay! How will you get to school everyday 5km away?
ReplyDeleteHaving hosted other students you probably know a lot about the whole process which will make it all easier no doubt.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, one of my friends in Fort Collins liked Paraguay so much he and his wife retired there. Unfortunately he had to return to the States but said it was a delightful place to live. Enjoy and keep us posted!
